2022 International Taxation Workshop to be held on November 14 at MOFTI

To strengthen tax officials’ capabilities in the wave of recent international taxation reforms, the Training Institute, Ministry of Finance (MOFTI) will hold the “2022 International Taxation Workshop on New International Tax Development Trends” from November 14 to 15.

MOFTI stated that it holds an international taxation workshop and invites distinguished foreign experts to share the latest tax developments every year. However, this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is hard to invite foreign scholars and experts to Taiwan, so MOFTI invited Tax Partner Cheli Liaw (廖哲莉) at Deloitte Taiwan, Tax Partner Andy Hsu (徐有德) at Deloitte Taiwan, and Partner Max Lin (林彥良) at Deloitte Risk Advisory to give lectures in English on the topic of the latest development of international tax. This workshop covers case studies of OECD model tax convention as well as the latest development of Pillar 2 (Global minimum tax) and anti-avoidance rules around the world. Industry insight into digital assets will be shared followed by discussion of global digital assets tax treatment.

MOFTI expressed that 26 participating tax officials will come from different affiliates of the MOF, including the Department of Planning, the Department of International Fiscal Affairs, and the National Taxation Bureaus. Furthermore, Tax Partner Andy Hsu has especially designed case discussions in this workshop to motivate and deepen tax officials’ expertise and professional skills from an international perspective. The workshop is expected to benefit tax officials and further enable our policies to keep pace with world trends.
