To strengthen tax officials’ capabilities in the wave of recent international taxation reforms, the Training Institute, Ministry of Finance (MOFTI) held the “2020 International Taxation Workshop on the Consumption Taxation of Corporate Income” from September 7 to 9. The purpose of this workshop is to provide a better understanding of the ongoing development of the structure of taxation on the Corporation Income Tax (CIT).

MOFTI stated that every year, it holds an international taxation workshop of  1 to 3 days and invites distinguished foreign experts to share the latest tax development. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the featured speaker is  Dr. Joe Chen, a professor of National Cheng-Chi University. The workshop covered major points including features of corporate income taxation, effects of corporate income tax on corporate behaviors, fundamental reform, tax competition and base erosion, digitalization and corporate income taxation, the development on the OECD front, and the development on the EU front.

MOFTI expressed that 26 tax officials came from the different affiliates of the MOF, including the Department of Planning, the Department of International Fiscal Affairs, and the National Taxation Bureaus, to attend this workshop. Dr. Chen specially designed case discussions of corporation income tax in this workshop to motivate and deepen tax official’s expertise and professional skills from an international perspective. The 3-day workshop is expected to benefit tax officials and further enable our policies to keep pace with world trends.
