2018 ITA ends successfully

17th August 2018

The 3-week 2018 International Taxation Academy, held by the Training Institute, Ministry of Finance, ends successfully. The closing ceremony is on the morning of 17th August. The Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr. Juan, awards certificates of completion to the participants in the program

 

This year, the courses focused on 3 major themes: 1. Transfer Pricing, 2. Cross-Border E-Commerce and 3. Exchange of Information and Common Reporting Standard. Lecturers included Dr. James Brant McOmber, a senior manager of Transfer Pricing Department of the International Deloitte Accounting Firm; Ms. Sitanan Sriworakorn, an assistant public prosecutor of the Office of the Attorney General of Thailand; Dr. Chi Chung, an assistant professor at the College of Law of Soochow University; and Dr. Kuo-Liang Chen, an associate professor of the Department of Public Finance of National Cheng-Chi University. The participants include 40 taxation and customs officials from Taiwan’s Ministry of Finance and subordinate agencies and 5 taxation officials from Guatemala, Eswantini, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, invited with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

The closing ceremony is simple and grand. In addition to Counselor Steve Y. C. Chang of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of relevant countries’ embassies in Taiwan, guests include Counselor Kuan-Pao Chen, director-generals or representatives from the Department of International Fiscal Affairs as well as the National Taxation Bureau of Taipei, Kaohsiung, the Northern area and the Southern area.

 

Deputy-minister Juan congratulates all the participants who completes training, and expresses gratitude to the School of Law of the Southern Methodist University for helping invite internationally renowned scholars and experts to lecture on the course. He also appreciates the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their assistance in inviting foreign participants. Foreign participants express great praise and gratitude for the Academy during their thank-you remarks. The 2018 ITA ends successfully in a warm atmosphere.

 

In order to enhance the professional and foreign language ability of our international taxation officials, to provides opportunities for discussing and exchanging information with tax officials from friendly countries, and to expand taxation diplomacy, the MOFTI will continue holding these training seminars in the future.
