The Training Institute, Ministry of Finance will hold the 2017 International Taxation Academy from 31 July to 18 Augustto equip our tax officers with knowledge of international taxation and enhance cooperation in international taxation affairs. The opening ceremony will take place on Monday morning 31 July2017 inthe Lecture Room.

The course framework for this year includes three major themes: Place of Effective Management (PEM), Communication, and Transfer Pricing and Intangibles. In addition, three world-renowned experts have been brought together as an eminent faculty. They will lecture at the Academy in light of current trends and talk about their personal experiences with the related topics. They are Dr. William P. Streng, Vinson & Elkins Professor of Law at the University of Houston Law Center; Dr. Barbara K. Kaye, Professor of School of Journalism & Electronic Media University of Tennessee, and Dr. James Brant McOmber, Transfer Pricing Senior Manager at BDO USA, LLP.

Thirsty-eight domestic tax officers will participate this year. Moreover, with the assistance of the Department of International Cooperation and Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ten government officers from nine countries with potential for development, including officers from Albania, Belize, Bulgaria, Honduras, Indonesia, Jordan, Malaysia, Mongolia, and Thailand will also participate in the Academy.

The Training Institute has been co-operating with the School of Law, Southern Methodist University on the International Taxation Academy for terms since 1984. Over the past thirsty-three years, 999 tax officers in our country and 245 officers in the field of public finance from another 58 countries have participated in the training program.

This program has been shown to be effective in introducing innovative knowledge about international taxation, and participation in the courses has assisted tax officers in deepening their expertise and professional English language skills from an international perspective. The aim of the Academy is to provide tax officers in the MOF with a platform for networking, and to foster dialogue with tax and public financial officers from other countries.
